FAQs on Networking

Send us your questions and we will add and answer them here . This will help everyone.

To answer this question lets understand Why ? & How ?

Why ?

This can happen due to multiple factors such as:

  1. Position & placement of your Wi-Fi routers and access points.
  2. How they are connected (wired or wireless repeaters) to the Internet source or main router.
  3. The type & capacity of the Wi-Fi routers & access points.
  4. The capacity/bandwidth of the Internet source.
  5. If other devices like CCTV, Biometric Scanners or any other devices connected to the network.
  6. If the network is managed or unmanaged.
  7. Number of users accessing the Internet/Network.

 How ?

  1. Position and Placement of Wi-Fi routers and access points play a very important role in the performance of the Wi-Fi. It is always recommended to place the Wi-Fi routers and access points in a central position from where distance to all users are almost equal, so that every user can receive signal strength above 65%.
  2. Connection to all Wi-Fi routers, access points and repeaters should be done in such a way that data can flow freely between the devices. Use good quality cat6 cables & connectors. Try to use Giga Switches, this will enhance the performance.
  3. Lot depends upon the capacity and quality of the Wi-Fi routers & access points. In places where many users are connected simultaneously, like hotels, commercial establishments, etc it is highly recommended to use industrial grade equipment (Wi-Fi routers & access, etc).
  4. Internet bandwidth plays another vital role in the quality of your network. In case of commercial establishments it is recommended to go for plans above 100mbps, preferably 300mbps.
  5. In case you are using other devices like CCTV, Biometric Scanners or any other devices connected to the network it is recommended to use a load balancer to balance the network traffic.
  6. It is always better to use a managed Network because it will help in managing the inbound and outbound traffic from your router to all the access points & Wi-Fi routers.
  7. Number of users accessing the network is also very important. At places where more than 50 simultaneous users are logging to the network it is highly recommended to have a UTM or user management system from where bandwidth to individual users can be controlled.

If you want better range, use 2.4 GHz. If you need higher performance or speed, use the 5GHz band. The 5GHz band, which is the newer of the two, has the potential to cut through network clutter and interference to maximize network performance. Which means this band will be better for things like reducing game lag.

The basic difference between these two bands is speed. Under ideal conditions, a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi router can support speeds up to 450 Mbps, some up to 600 Mbps. Under ideal conditions, a 5 GHz Wi-Fi router can support speeds up to 1300 Mbps.

To access a network via an Ethernet connection, users need to connect a device using ethernet cable. An Ethernet connection is generally faster than a WiFi connection and provides greater reliability and security.

Ethernet gives you better speed, lower latency, and a more reliable connection. Wi-Fi is more convenient for mobile devices, but is prone to interference. Deciding which one is better depends on what you want to do; so let's help you decide with some key comparisons.  Here is  great article to learn more about it.
